Benefits of ADHD Therapy for Young Adults

Maya-barrage-decor-04

Therapy can help you break the cycle of burnout, procrastination, and guilt by building routines that actually work for how your brain moves through the day. You’ll learn how to manage overwhelm, tackle tasks without freezing up, and finally feel a sense of progress again.

Whether you’re in college, starting a new job, or juggling both, therapy gives you tools to stay present, finish what you start, and recover faster when your mind wanders.

From friendships to dating to family tension, ADHD can make connection feel complicated. You’ll learn how to set boundaries, name your needs, and feel more understood in your relationships.

You are not lazy. You are not broken. Therapy helps you unlearn shame and reconnect with your strengths so you can move through the world with more confidence in who you are.

Get support with school overwhelm, job pressure, and decision fatigue. Therapy helps you create structure, cope with pressure, and move forward with less self-doubt.

You’ll get tools to notice what’s happening in your body and brain before it spirals. From emotional flooding to shutdown, you’ll learn how to come back to center.

Therapy can give you space to figure out who you are and what matters to you, especially if you’ve masked for a long time or feel like you’re always playing catch up.

WHY WORK WITH ME

Why work with Dr. Maya Barrage?

Caring more about how you feel in your life, than how things look on the outside, is where real change begins.

I work with adults who have spent years trying to manage, cope, or push through. Many have built full lives while silently feeling like something is always off. The truth is, it’s not a lack of effort or discipline. Most of my patients have been trying hard for a very long time.

I approach therapy with warmth, curiosity, and deep respect for your lived experience. Together, we focus on what’s happening beneath the surface. We discover what your nervous system is holding, what patterns are playing out, and what you’ve had to carry on your own.

Whether we use talk therapy, body-based tools, or creative work like art therapy, the goal is always the same. To help you feel more like yourself again. More clear, more connected, and more at peace in your mind and body.

There’s nothing to prove here. Just space to be honest, supported, and finally understood.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I don’t even know where to start in therapy?

That’s okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out. We’ll start with what’s coming up for you right now and build from there, one step at a time.

No, you don’t. If you resonate with ADHD traits like feeling overwhelmed, distracted, or stuck in a loop of burnout and shutdowns, that’s enough to begin. A diagnosis can be helpful, but it’s not a requirement to get support.

Both options are available. I offer online sessions for flexibility and in-person sessions for those who prefer to meet face to face. You’re welcome to choose what feels best for you.

I focus on what’s actually showing up in your day-to-day life. We’ll explore patterns, build tools that feel doable, and create systems that work for how your brain naturally operates. I use trauma-informed, body-based, and creative techniques that meet you where you are, with zero judgment.

We’ll have a calm, low-pressure conversation where you can share what’s been going on and what you’re hoping to find support with. It’s okay if you don’t know exactly what you need yet — that’s part of what we figure out together.

That’s valid. Not every therapist is the right fit. I specialize specifically in ADHD, so my approach is ADHD-informed, gentle, and collaborative. We’ll work at your pace, and you’ll never be pressured to be someone you’re not.

You’ll get both. We’ll talk through what’s going on, but you’ll also leave with practical strategies you can use right away in school, work, and relationships.
